DIY Lip Plumper

diy-lip-plumper

Ooooo child have I got a beauty remedy for you! Are you the kinda gal who heavily relies on lip plumpers every time you go out? Well if so then you know how expensive they can get!

I’m going to show you exactly how to make your own DIY lip plumper from the comfort of your own home and most importantly using ingredients that are ridiculously cheap!

Here’s What You Need

There are actually a ton of recipes out there but I like this one the most because it’s nice and simple and most of the ingredients can be bought from your supermarket.

You just need to get ahold of the following:

Cayenne Pepper – Less Than A Quarter Teaspoon

The sole purpose of any lip plumper is to mildly irritate the skin on your lips, causing them to swell nicely. Cayenne pepper is really effective at irritating your skin to a level that creates juuuust the right amount of swelling.

Next time you use cayenne in a meal, take a look at your lips in the mirror and I bet you’ll notice a difference!

Ground Ginger – Less Than A Quarter Teaspoon

You might be able to find this at the supermarket but if not, any health food store will definitely have it! It’s purpose is the exact same as the cayenne and that is to cause some mild irritation.

I also really like the smell of Ginger as well!

Coconut Oil – 2 Tablespoons

This one you might have to go to a health food store to find. It’s more expensive than olive oil, BUT you don’t need to use a lot of it each time you need a refill, which means it will last for ages!

It’s going to add to the irritation levels slightly, but its main purpose is to ensure your skin doesn’t become too dehydrated, a common side effect of most plumpers.

Peppermint Oil – 1-2 Drops

Guuurl irritating your skin this much is seriously gonna burn like crazy! That’s why we need a way of cooling our skin and we do this by applying just 1-2 drops of peppermint essential oil.

This one you gotta go to a health food store for and it may seem pricey at around $5-$10 for a tiny bottle. Just remember you only need to use a tiny amount each time you make a batch, so you’ll end up saving a ton of money in the long run!

One Small Liquid Tight Jar

Find yourself a jar from a previous lip chap or gloss you bought and used a while ago. Ask a girlfriend if you don’t have one sitting around. This is obviously what we’re going to be using to hold our plumper in so make sure you use something that is nice and portable!

Time To Throw It All Together!

Once you have all your ingredients we’re going to start mixing them together. This should only take about 5 minutes to make and its really easy to do, so don’t go worrying if you don’t have a science degree or anything!

Just follow these seriously simple steps and you’ll have yourself a super potent, cheap lip plumper in no time:

Step 1: Grab yourself a small pot and fill it up halfway with water before placing on your stove at about a medium temperature.

Wait for the water to start simmering, don’t let it boil!

Step 2: Take a 1L pyrex measuring container and place it inside the the pot of hot water, leaving the heat on of course.

Step 3: Add the cayenne pepper, coconut oil and ground ginger into the measuring container and stir with a spoon until the mix looks nice and even.

Step 4: Add in a drop or two of the peppermint oil and stir for about 10-15 seconds.

Step 5: Pour the mix into your small empty tub and put it into your fridge for about 15-20 minutes to allow it to cool.

That is it! You now have yourself a super potent, nice smelling lip plumper that you can make whenever you want. No more paying for those expensive plumpers anymore!
