Happy Monday ladies!
The blogosphere has been abuzz with these Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains and I had to get my hands on some and share my thoughts with you! I rarely use lip stains because I like soft nude or pink lip colors, I don’t think I look good with a berry stain or bright red lips so I usually shy away from lip stains but since these babies are balm stains and I’ve heard such great things about them, I had to give them a try.
These retail for $9.49 each at my local CVS and they were on
sale for BOGO 1/2 off. There are 12 shades available ranging from a baby pink to bright berry colors. I got Charm #35 a peachy nude and Darling #10 a pale lavender. Charm is a color that I normally reach for shopping for lip products but Darling is a little out of my beauty comfort zone. I wanted to get a deeper color in the range of shades but it actually turned out to be on the lighter side, more on that later.
Per the Revlon website:
-Lightweight Lipstain + Moisturizing Balm
-100% of women who tried it felt their lips were instantly moisturized with a soft stain of color
-Retractable chubby crayon, no sharpener required
I used these balm stains on my bare lips, I didn’t layer them on top of a lipstick. I really wanted to see how they would work as is and not paired with any other beauty product. So, first off, I love the chubby crayon look to them, they’re very soft, easy to apply, very reminiscent of their infamous lip butters. When applied to the lips, you immediately get a slight minty sensation and fragrance. It’s not overpowering or annoying at all, I think I prefer a clean, mint fragrance and feel compared to something super sweet that would get annoying after awhile.
Both of the colors I got are fairly sheer, which I sort of expected. Here is a swatch of both colors on my hand, Charm is on the left and Darling on the right. My camera barely picked up Charm and it was just a little more visible on my lips.
Here are the balm stains applied to my lips:
Top: Charm Bottom: Darling
So as you can see, they are both pretty light, if you like just a little bit of color on your lips with the added benefit of softening your lips, you’ll love this. It’s a nice alternative to wearing a lipstick or gloss but it’s very faint so if you it won’t really grab anyone’s attention or make your lips stand out. I think these are perfect to wear on an everyday basis for school or work and it’s a great change from just wearing a plain lip balm.
This is a photo of my lips wearing Charm after eating and wearing it for a few hours:
Excuse my dry-looking lips! There isn’t much color left behind despite this being part lip stain but my lips were soft!
-Comes in lots of colors
-More colorful than a regular lip balm
-Very sheer color
-Not much of a stain left on lips after a few hours of wear
All in all, it’s an expensive lip balm but if you like to amp up your everyday look with something a little more colorful and fun than Chapstick, this will work great. I’ve heard good things about these balm stains when they’re applied on top of lipsticks so that might be a great option as well. Have you tried these Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains? What do you think of them?
